Walliker Street footbridge will close to pedestrians tomorrow morning (Wednesday 14 October) until further notice.

The decision comes after a routine inspection found the condition of the bridge required further testing and repair works.

The nearest alternative crossing points are Anlaby Road Flyover and St George’s Road level crossing.

Councillor Anita Harrison, portfolio holder for Streetscene at Hull City Council, said: “As a result of the inspection by our bridge engineers and structural consultants, we are having to act on the advice and have no option but to keep the bridge closed to pedestrians until further notice.

“We are liaising with Network Rail, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“Once the inspections are completed, an update will be provided.”
