On Friday (24 February), Hull City Council will mark a year since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Ukraine flag will be flown at full mast from the Guildhall, whilst Queen Victoria Square will be lit in blue and yellow across the weekend.
Council staff will also be invited to participate in a national one-minute silence.
Councillor Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “As we reach a year since this conflict began, we continue to show our support as a city to the people of Ukraine.
“As a city of sanctuary, we have welcomed many of those fleeing the war to Hull and continue to commit to helping those in need. The city has hosted 158 people under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, in addition to those who have come over on the family visa scheme.
“On Friday, as we raise the Ukrainian flag and light up the city’s key buildings, we send a clear message of support, especially to those Ukrainians who have chosen to make our county their home in the past year.”
Hull4Ukraine will also hold a procession on Saturday (25 February), which will walk from Welcome House on Wright Street starting at 1.30pm, through the city centre, arriving at Hull Minister around 3pm.
