Family Hubs launch new website to showcase the wide range of free support on offer to Hull families

A new website for Hull’s Family Hubs has been launched.

Hull’s 12 Children’s Centres were officially rebranded as Family Hubs earlier this year, offering a wide range of services to support local children, young people and families.

The Family Hubs offer support to families in their local communities from conception, through the first 1,001 days of a child’s life and up to age 19, or up to 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Hull was successful in receiving grant funding of £3.5m from the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Social Care to develop Family Hubs.

Family Hubs expand what is on offer in Hull’s Childrens Centres, and provide help with infant feeding, speech, language and communication, parent/carer and infant relationships. They also offer access to social activities, peer support and enable young children to make new friends. There is also support for dads and partners and a wide range of activities for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Local Family Support Workers are also on hand to help with issues such as emotional health and wellbeing, as well as wider support around things such as budgeting, housing, smoking cessation and job advice.

They also offer cost of living support, such as Fareshare food banks, financial support, benefits advice and specialist support around domestic abuse or parental conflict.

The website allows families to digitally access and review what is on offer. The site also brings together all Start for Life services and support in a single online space.

The new site was developed through consultation with partners and staff. Focus groups were held with families who were able to feed back about the website’s access, design, branding and functionality.

Councillor Linda Tock, the portfolio holder for Children’s Services at Hull City Council said: “The new Family Hubs website has been developed with families in mind. It’s easy to navigate and find out how your local Family Hub can help you.

“When Hull was selected as one of the Trailblazer areas for new Family Hubs, it enabled us to offer even more support to our families.

The Priory Family Hub has even become a new centre for birth registration, located in the west of the city.”
