Hull City Councils’ Household Waste and Recycle Centres – when will they be open over Christmas?

As Christmas fast approaches, Hull City Council wants to remind residents that the Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) will be changing their opening times over the festive period.

The centres – which are located in Burma Dive, Whiltshire Road, and Amsterdam Road – will be closed on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 December, and Monday 1 January (Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day).

The centres will also close at the earlier time of 4pm on Sunday 24 and Sunday 31 December (Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve).

Following the festive period, from Tuesday 2 January, the HWRCs will resume their normal opening hours of 10am to 5pm Monday to Sunday.

Councillor Julia Conner, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “We urge residents to plan their waste disposal accordingly and to make use of the centres before they close.

“30% more waste is generated at Christmas, so please think about what can be thrown away, or given to charity, to maximise recycling.”

Residents are also reminded that bin collection days will change over the Christmas break. Read more here: Hull’s Christmas bin collection dates announced  – Hull CC News
