An amber Heat Health Alert is in place across Yorkshire and the Humber, including Hull, from 9am on Tuesday 11 August until 9pm on Friday 14 August.
Hot weather can affect anyone, but there is a bigger risk to older people, young children and those with health conditions. Extreme heat can bring more chances of illness and dehydration.
If you or someone you know may be vulnerable, take simple steps to stay safe:
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day
- Keep your home as cool as possible by closing curtains or blinds in sunny rooms
- Check on older relatives, friends and neighbours
- Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle
For advice on staying safe during hot weather, visit the UK Health Security Agency’s guidance here.
We encourage all residents to look out for one another and take extra care while the amber alert remains in place.
