Holocaust Memorial Day 2024 was held on 27 January, allowing thoughts to turn to the 6 million Jews and the millions of other people murdered by the Nazi regime.
Those killed during more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur are also remembered.
Holocaust Memorial Day is held on the 27th of January ever year. It marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.
