Approval will be sought from Hull City Council’s cabinet for two key planning strategies which will enhance and sustain the city’s playing pitches, sports facilities and sporting infrastructure.
Hull’s Playing Pitch Strategy & Action Plan, alongside Hull’s Built Facilities Strategy, will be proposed for adoption by councillors.
If both strategies are adopted, they will provide the council with clear strategic frameworks for the maintenance and improvement of existing playing pitch facilities, sport facilities and sporting infrastructure that supports the council’s long-term goals of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
The council would then work with key stakeholders to identify priorities and opportunities for investment.
It would also liaise with local schools and Academy Trusts to review and further develop community use for sports provision within the city’s educational sites to maximise opportunities for local communities and grassroot clubs.
Cllr Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for parks at the council, said: “These strategies provide the council with clear evidence and policies to make sure we protect and enhance our outdoor sporting provisions both now and in the future.
“Hull is a city with sport at its heart and these strategies give real priority to protecting sports pitches, as well as providing accessible facilities for all.”
