Don’t miss out on Healthy Holidays Hull

With the start of the summer holidays less than two weeks away, the Healthy Holidays Hull programme is about to kick off.

Booking is still open online, for the usual offer of exciting, totally free activities all summer long. But parents and carers are advised to book now, as spaces fill up quickly and some sessions are already full.

As announced in May, a brand new one-stop booking system makes organising activities easier than ever. The new system, called Eequ, is accessed through the existing Healthy Holidays Hull site families will be familiar with. Users will just need to create an account, add on their children, and then book activities as desired across the site. The booking process is easy and efficient. The change is designed to make the process quicker, simpler and more convenient for families. It replaces the previous process, which required bookings to be made directly through providers.

With the weather always unpredictable, the programme offers a mix of opportunities to make the most of the outdoors and get active – as well as a wealth of indoor fun if the sunshine disappears.

Cllr Linda Tock, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Hull City Council, said: “The start of the Healthy Holidays programme is a sign summer has begun in Hull. As usual, the scope of activities on offer really is fantastic, and the new booking system is the icing on the cake.

“Whether children and young people want to get outside, be active, play sports or flex their creative muscles with art, theatre or dance, there’s something in the programme to make them happy. And the Healthy Holidays Hull website is now a one-stop-shop for booking everything they want to do.

“As always, everything is free, almost all sessions include a nutritional food offer, and all school-aged children and young people can participate.

“Healthy Holidays is an invaluable programme, which means every family has opportunities to enjoy activities throughout the school holidays, without having to worry about finding the money. Parents also have the assurance that their children and young people are getting nutritious food while they’re there”.

Activities on offer over the summer holidays include a dedicated SEND programme, a range of sports, outdoor education, go-karting, street dance and theatre making, cooking sessions, football, arts and crafts and more.

There are also family events including beach days, play days and fundays, and Zebfest – a dedicated festival just for 11-16-year-olds. Activity providers include Hull’s libraries, museums and leisure centres, as well as local sports teams and many more   community foundations and variety of community and voluntary organisations.

Healthy Holidays runs from Tuesday 21 July throughout the school holidays.
