Project Update: Boothferry Flats

Get the latest updates on the demolition of Boothferry flats as they happen.

The existing three tower blocks on this site are currently being demolished and this will be complete by October 2026. Once cleared this will provide an opportunity to delivery modern new Council homes on this site.

The Council have started the process to appoint a housing delivery partner who will work in collaboratively with the Council to prepare plans for new homes and community facilities on this site.

Once appointed our housing delivery partner and the Council will work proactively with the local community as part of the design process. 

1 July 2026

Good progress is being made at the demolition of Boothferry flats, with the first block approaching ground level. The contractor expects to be able to start mechanical demolition of the next block (Woolwich) within the next couple of weeks, which means residents will begin to see structural work to demolish this block very soon. The Council and the Contractor will continue to keep residents updated of further milestones.

9 June 2026

At the ongoing demolition of Boothferry Flats, the contractor, GBM Demolition, have progressed much faster than expected on site. Starting from today, they have begun with the physical demolition of the buildings. Residents will begin to see more activity on the site as the physical demolition continues, with completion of the demolitions expected in autumn

18 May 2026

The Council has appointed a contractor for the demolition of the flats and they are currently mobilising on site. The contractor has started with ensuring the buildings are safe for the demolition to commence, meaning over the coming weeks, residents will see progress on the demolition of the flats. Further updates will be provided as the demolition gains pace.
