Civic funeral for former Lord Mayor Anita Harrison

A civic funeral service for former Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull Anita Harrison will take place later this month.

The long-serving Hull City Councillor died last month at the age of 71.

The service will take place at Hull Minster on Wednesday 17 June at 11am.

A civic procession will occur beforehand, travelling from the Guildhall to the Minster.

Following the service, a burial will take place at Northern Cemetery at 1pm.

Family, friends, colleagues and members of the community are then warmly invited to attend a reception at the Guildhall, starting at 2pm, to celebrate Councillor Harrison’s life and service.

She served as a councillor for 24 years, first being elected in 2002 in the Bransholme East Ward, and most recently representing the North Carr ward.

Her time as Lord Mayor came between 2015 and 2016, where she proudly promoted Hull during the run-up to the 2017 City of Culture year.
