Hull City Council’s Public Health team is keen to understand the oral health of children who are educated at home.
Due to a lack of national and local data, Public Health would like to hear the challenges and problems you may have encountered in relation to oral and dental health for your child or children. This will help the council to provide resources to support families in Hull if they are needed.
Hull City Council does not have control over the number of available NHS dentists, but can provide other support – such as signposting material and toothbrush packs. It is these resources that the council would aim to improve, based on responses.
Councillor Linda Tock, portfolio holder for children’s services, said: “We know that good oral health is an important part of every child’s wellbeing, but it’s an area where many families can face barriers to getting the right support.
“By hearing directly from parents who home educate, we can make sure the resources Hull City Council provides are relevant, accessible and genuinely helpful. I’d encourage everyone eligible to take a few minutes to share their experiences.”
This survey is aimed at anyone who electively home educates their child or children in Hull. The Public Health team welcome your views and experiences and would appreciate it if you could take the time to complete the survey, which should only take 5-10 minutes.
The survey is anonymous, and Public Health will not pass on your details to anyone else.
