Northcott School and Sixth Form College in Hull has received an outstanding Ofsted inspection report.
The report showed the school is outstanding in all areas; overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and its sixth form provision.
The school was previously judged as ‘Good’ when it was last visited in March 2017.
Northcott is a school maintained by the council. It is located on Bransholme in the east of the city. It is a special, co-educational school for pupils aged 3-19 with Autism, Asperger’s, and social, communication learning difficulties within Hull and the wider local area.
The report praises the school for providing an environment where pupils ‘flourish’. It praises passionate staff, expert teaching, an ambitious curriculum, high achievement and a strong sense of belonging among its pupils.
Last year, the school was expanded to offer more places as part of the council’s plans to step up its provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Current Head Teacher, Katherine Johnson, was appointed in September 2017. Miss Johnson said: “In the last 7 years we have worked tirelessly to improve the standard of education offered and to provide an education that our children deserve.”
Councillor Linda Tock, the portfolio holder for Children’s Services at Hull City Council, said: “This latest inspection report is testament to Northcott’s team of hardworking staff, who are committed to providing a first-rate educational experience to young people with SEND in Hull.”
