Hull City Council is celebrating Hull’s foster carers this Foster Care Fortnight.
Foster Care Fortnight, held every May, is a yearly event led by The Fostering Network. It highlights our nation’s incredible foster carers and the difference they make in the lives of young people every day.
From 21-23 May, the council will be lighting up Hull City Hall turquoise, Hull Fostering’s colour, in honour of our city’s foster carers.
There are almost 800 looked after children in the council’s care who need a safe and happy home.
Hull Fostering have set up information stalls across Hull as part of the celebrations. They invite residents to visit them to meet the faces who make up part of the fostering team, ask questions, and learn more about how they can make a difference in a child’s life.
Whether curious about fostering or ready to take the next step, the team are there to offer support every step of the way.
The dates of their upcoming information events are:
- Tuesday 21st May – 10.30am – 3pm – Albert Avenue Pools
- Wednesday 22nd May – 10am – 4.30pm – Hull Royal Infirmary
- Thursday 23rd May – 10.30am – 3pm – Asda, Kingswood
- Friday 24th May – 10.30am – 3pm – Northpoint Shopping Centre
- Saturday 25th May – 1pm – 3pm – Party in the Quay, Princess Quay
Hull Fostering are also hosting their first ever Foster Carer Conference on Friday 17 May. It will bring together foster carers and a network of all the other people who support children in an exchange of ideas and learning.

“Hull Fostering are always looking to spread the word about how remarkable our foster carers are and why fostering matters. During Foster Care Fortnight, it’s a chance for everyone in England to chat about fostering together.”
