Social workers across Hull City Council’s Children and Family Services have been honoured as some of the ‘Amazing Social Workers’ being celebrated for World Social Work Week.
Many individuals and teams have been profiled as part of the British Association of Social Worker’s (BASW) annual celebrations.
The BASW is the UK’s professional membership organisation for social work.
Their ‘Amazing Social Workers’ campaign was launched as part of their annual World Social Work Month celebrations.
It provides the opportunity for us all to celebrate the incredible work that social workers do.
The honoured council staff include:
- Charlotte Plant, Pre-registration Social Work Practitioner in the Refugee and Asylum Seeker Team
- Christine Walsh, Social Work Apprentice
- Claire Winters, Independent Reviewing Officer
- Estelle Parker, Social Worker
- Hayley Hackney, Social Work Team Manager
- Lara Davidson, Hull Safeguarding Children Partnership Manager
- Lisa Smales, Practice Educator
- Paula Meanwell, Social Worker
- Samantha French, Senior Residential Care Worker
- Siobhan Goodfellow, newly qualified Social Worker
- Suzanne Smith, Practice Educator

Councillor Linda Tock, the portfolio holder for Children’s Services at Hull City Council said: “I’m so proud to see so many of our fantastic teams and individuals being recognised for their incredible and vital work. They continue to go above and beyond to provide support to children and families in Hull, as well as educate the next generation of social workers.
“They are an asset to the council and our city.”
Hull City Council has developed the Hull Social Work Academy, as they aspire to become the best place to practice social work and to make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.
