Hull City Council and Humberside Police are working in partnership this spooky season to tackle anti-social behaviour across the city.
From today (Monday 28 October) to Sunday 10 November, additional police presence will be seen in neighbourhoods across Hull, to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable Halloween and Bonfire Night.
The initiative is being backed by Hull City Council, which is working closely with the force to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Chief Inspector Alex Weeks said: “You will begin to see additional police presence on patrol in and around your neighbourhood over this period. We really want everyone to enjoy themselves so we want to remind the public we will be there to deal with any incidents promptly.
“We take a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to anyone deliberately looking to harm others enjoying the occasions. This includes people being antisocial and behaving in a way that taunts or intimidates people, or throwing things at people, their houses, or cars.
“Not everyone wants to celebrate occasions such as Halloween, so I would ask that those that are celebrating the season to consider their neighbours to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.”
Councillor Linda Tock portfolio holder for community safety at Hull City Council, said: “The safety and well-being of our residents is our top priority. As we approach Halloween and Bonfire Night, we are acutely aware of the potential increase in anti-social behaviour, so we are joining forces with the police to combat this head on.
“We will not tolerate any unacceptable behaviour and will not hesitate to take further action, where it is appropriate to do so, in order to protect communities across the city.”
For those who do not want trick or treaters to visit their home, posters are available to download here, alternatively you can visit your local police station for a printed copy.
Equally, posters are also available for shops to display about the sale of items such as flour and eggs. Local shops are also urged to consider who they are selling these types of items to, as this will help to keep anti-social behaviour to a minimum.
As the nights get darker, Humberside Police also urge residents to stay vigilant of crimes such as theft and burglary.
