Two more of the city’s primaries have been graded as Good by Ofsted, meaning 91 per cent of Hull primary schools have now been assessed as Good or Outstanding.
Nationally, the average for primary schools is 88 per cent.
Councillor Linda Tock, Portfolio Holder for children’s services said: “This progress is testimony to the dedication of school staff, parents and pupils. I’d like to thank everyone across Hull’s communities for their part in the progress that’s been made, especially on this occasion the staff, parents and pupils at Thanet and Woodland.
“It’s wonderful to see Thanet and Woodland primary schools have both achieved a Good grading, meaning Hull is now above the national average for percentage of primary schools assessed as Good or Outstanding.
“Ensuring that children benefit from the best possible education is a priority for the council, giving children the best start in life and enabling them to flourish and achieve their full potential.”
Hull has 71 primary schools, attended by over 7000 children.
Hull City Council continues to work with Academy Trusts via the Hull Learning Partnership to develop a city-wide approach to improving achievement, promoting inclusion for children and young people, improving outcomes for pupils in vulnerable groups, including SEND, keeping children safe, and providing essential nutrition.
