Free holiday sports camps and activities are back for the Easter holidays.
The programme is provided by Hull Culture and Leisure, funded by Hull City Council and the Department for Education as part of the Holiday and Activities and Food Programme, and will run Monday 11 – Friday 22 April.
Holiday camps with First Step Sport will take place across Costello Stadium, Ennerdale and Woodford Leisure Centres and are a perfect way to keep 8-13 years active during the holidays. Hot food is provided and booking is advised, although there are a limited number of walk-up spaces available.
Free junior swimming sessions also return to Woodford, Ennerdale and Beverley Road Baths for children aged 5–15 years. Under 8s must be accompanied by a paying adult and no booking is required.
Fun, float and splash sessions are coming to Ennerdale for family sessions with children aged 5–10 years. The sessions will be held 4pm-6pm Wednesday 13 and Wednesday 20 April. Children enter for free and under 8s must be accompanied by an adult paying £1. Booking for these sessions is essential.
The ever-popular Disco Dive will also return to Woodford on Friday 22 April 6.30pm-8pm with free entry for 8-15 year olds. Booking is essential.
The brand new Pickering Park aviary will join East Park’s animal education centre for bird box painting, Storytime and crafts activity days for all the family. These bookable sessions are at Pickering Park on Tuesday 12 April and East Park on Wednesday 20 April, and will run from 11am with final admission at 12.30pm. Sessions after 12noon will include a free packed lunch for children. Places are limited so booking is essential.
Councillor Hester Bridges, Deputy Leader and Chair of Hull Health and Wellbeing Board said: “We know school holidays can be a difficult time for parents and carers to find affordable activities for children and keep them entertained.
“This programme of activities offers a whole host of free activities to suit children and young people, with the offer of healthy food. Wherever you are in Hull, there are activities in your area and there really is something for everyone.”
Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, Councillor Marjorie Brabazon said: “We have an excellent programme of free activities on offer right across the city for all the family at our fantastic leisure centres and parks which I’m sure will prove extremely popular.”
