Hull KR are world champions following last night’s nailbiting 30-24 victory over Brisbane Broncos to claim the Betfred World Club Challenge at the MKM Stadium in Hull.

Councillor Mike Ross, leader of the Hull City Council, has congratulated the club. He said:

“Congratulations once again to Hull KR. Seemingly, you’ve already managed to top last season’s historic treble by making it a quadruple.

“It was fantastic to see the city’s 25,000-seat community stadium packed with so many fans, from both here and the other side of the globe, whilst hosting a world-class international sporting event, in front of a record crowd for a rugby league game at the stadium. What a game it was.

“We would like to thank the visiting players, officials and fans from the Brisbane Broncos for coming over and we hope you enjoyed your time in our great city, despite the result.

“Well done again to the Robins, you’ve done the city proud once again. Hull is a city of world champions.”
