Pay Council Tax by direct debit to receive £150 energy rebate as soon as it is available

Hull City Council is advising residents to pay their Council Tax by direct debit, to make sure households get the £150, one off, Energy Bill rebate from the government as soon as it is available.

Households in Council Tax bands A-D will receive the one-off cash payment in April to help with the increased cost of living. The cash will be paid directly into bank accounts.

Signing up to pay your Council Tax by direct debit means the council has all the information needed to make the payment as soon as it is released.

Households who do not have a direct debit set up will need to provide their bank account details to the council for the rebate, and this will take longer.

Residents must be liable for the Council Tax bill at the property to be eligible for the rebate. Households that receive 100 percent Council Tax reduction are still entitled to the rebate, and the council will make contact with further details of payment options over the next few weeks.

Empty homes or second homes are not eligible for the rebate.

Please be aware to help prevent scamming the Council will not call you to take bank account details over the telephone.
