Libraries in Hull have had to adapt in the face of coronavirus.
People are currently unable to visit their local library – but that doesn’t mean they can’t browse and borrow books.
Hull Libraries service has seen a significant rise in people loaning e-books and audiobooks online.
In March, the amount of people accessing the Hull Libraries online service rose by 17 per cent. E-book loans increased by 30 per cent and audiobook loans by 15 per cent.
Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “Hull Libraries service can be of great benefit to emotional and mental health, especially during such unprecedented times.
Remember, we’ve now made it possible to join the library from home so you can access our online content. Free magazine, ebooks and eaudiobooks. All the details here https://t.co/Lo1TRUCzZr pic.twitter.com/bs5Vd9GrBW

“Hull Libraries, like so many services, is having to adapt, but there are still plenty of resources online that can bring great comfort and enjoyment to residents.
“I’m delighted that more people are accessing these online services and thankful to staff who are continuing to provide such a vital resource during such difficult times.”
The collections can be accessed via either BorrowBox or RB Digital, both of which are available as apps and online with a valid library card number.
