Back in 2015 when Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ was the biggest song in the UK and the iPhone 6 had just hit the market, 2015 was also a life changing year for Jackie and Peter, who joined Hull Fostering as foster carers.
In just 8 years, the couple have cared for 11 young people, admittedly turning their lives upside down (in a good way) to take long term care of three siblings.
They are now planning on taking a Special Guardianship Order this year for the three children, which is an amazing commitment to them all and will give the three young people the reassurance they need that they can live with Jackie and Peter long term.
Fostering Social Worker Susanne said, “I have been the fostering social worker for Jackie and Peter for a good few years and I have seen them work through some difficult times with some young people.
“Jackie and Peter are a strong team and support each other with their fostering roles. They are very dedicated to the children and have made a remarkable difference the three children they currently care for.
“The children have been so transformed into aspiring, happy and thriving children with hopes and dreams for their futures. It has been a wonderful experience and a privilege to have been a part of this.
“Jackie and Peter are so inclusive of the children they have cared for and have treated everyone as part of their family. They have taken every opportunity to celebrate special moments for the children and have made wonderful memory boxes and added to life-story books for all the children. They are brilliant advocates; tenacious and diligent in promoting the children’s health and education which has reaped the benefits for all the children.
“They celebrate the day their three children arrived at their door every year and this is a very special anniversary for them. They are brilliant with keeping the links for the children with their family and support, organise and facilitate contact for the three children with their other siblings and relatives.
“A huge thank you from me for all the fantastic work you are doing. You are both an inspiration to Hull fostering.”
We couldn’t agree more, thank you Jackie and Peter for everything you continue to do for our children. We are very lucky to have you part of our team.
