A free four-day fun-packed family event will come to Hull this June to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The council has today published a decision record that will allocate funds for the event, which will take place from Thursday 2 – Sunday 5 June to coincide with the extended bank holiday weekend.
Seventy years since Her Majesty The Queen took the throne, Hull city centre streets will be brought to life with red, white and blue decorations, stages, children’s activities and a whole host of family entertainment.
Garry Taylor, Assistant Director for Major Projects, Culture and Place said:
“Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, and this extended weekend is a great opportunity for communities across the country to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.
“Across the four days, key areas of the city centre will come to life in true British street-party style and everyone is invited to join the celebrations.
“We will be working closely with partners and stakeholders to offer a huge range of activities and entertainment for all ages, there really will be something for everyone.”
More details on the event will be revealed in the coming weeks as plans come together.
