Hull’s stunning Christmas lights will be switched on by Hull-born football legend and Former England Women’s Football Captain Dr Carol Thomas, alongside the Lord Mayor, Cllr Kalvin Neal next week.
Queen Victoria Square will come alive with stunning light and sound installations on Thursday 16 November, with thousands expected to be there. A 50 ft spruce sponsored by KWL will form the centrepiece for the event.
Entertainment will get under way at 5pm, with Hull DJ Darren Lethem playing host from Hull City Hall balcony to introduce live performances to entertain the crowds.
Hull’s State of the Arts Academy will be providing local talent with vocalists singing Christmas songs from 5.30pm.
Dr Carol Thomas and Lord Mayor will be joined by a very special guest straight out of the North Pole, in switching on the lights at 6.45pm.
The light switch-on will include a firework display (weather dependent) over Queen Victoria Square as well as a festive lighting display across Queen Victoria Square.
Lord Mayor, Cllr Kalvin Neal said:
“This year’s Christmas lights switch-on will be a fantastic highlight in the festive calendar and always draws a great crowd, all ready to celebrate.
“I’m really looking forward to being joined by some special guests to kick off the season and seeing the city centre looking its very best.”
