Remembrance Sunday 2026 will be marked by an annual event at the city’s Cenotaph this Sunday.

Hull City Council is supporting The Royal British Legion in co-ordinating a service which will commence at 10:55am.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Maria Coward, will be among those who will lay a wreath, as the city comes together to once again remember the millions of people who lost their lives in the First World War and subsequent conflicts.

Two minutes of silence will be observed at 11am.

The service will be preceded by a military parade, which will depart Queen Victoria Square at 10:25am.

It will move down Carr Lane before turning north onto Ferensway and onto the Cenotaph.

The Lord Mayor said: “I am very humbled to have the honour of joining those who have fought for our country during Sunday’s service.

“Hull is a city that knows better than many others the devastation that war can bring, and we must never forget those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”

To facilitate the event, a number of road closures will be in place in Hull city centre on Sunday from 6am.

It is anticipated that all road closures will be lifted by 1pm.

A smaller Armistice Day service will follow at the Cenotaph on Wednesday 11 November, organised by the Royal British Legion Hull branch, where two minutes of silence will be observed at 11am.
