Hull City Council is advising motorists and the travelling public about a switch in traffic management on Holwell Road, that will see a temporary road closure in place for around six weeks from Wednesday 11 November 2026.

The partial closure will affect vehicles travelling northbound between the Holwell Road/Honiton Road roundabout and the Wawne Road/Bude Road roundabout and will allow the council’s contractor, Hessle-based CR Reynolds Ltd, to complete carriageway widening and reconstruction works, as part of a wider scheme to increase the capacity of Wawne Road/Bude Road roundabout.

The latest traffic management change follows the completion of six weeks of work to the southbound lane.

All northbound traffic travelling along Holwell Road, including buses, will be required to follow a signed diversion via Honiton Road and Wawne Road (East). Southbound traffic will be unaffected, as the works currently taking place in this location will be completed on Tuesday 10 November 2026 and restrictions lifted.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, said: “We’re making good progress on these important improvements to Kingswood’s road network, with work on the southbound carriageway now completed and the next phase getting underway.

“Kingswood has grown significantly over the years, and it’s important that our roads can keep pace with that growth. These improvements will increase capacity at one of the area’s key roundabouts, helping to ease congestion, improve traffic flow and make journeys more reliable for residents and businesses.

“We know that roadworks cause inconvenience, particularly on busy routes, which is why we’re carrying out the work in phases and keeping traffic moving in one direction wherever possible.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their continued patience. We’re focused on completing these improvements as quickly and safely as possible so that people can begin to benefit from the investment.”
