The Hull Bus Alliance has announced a number of changes to bus services, as of Sunday 1 September 2024, designed to improve punctuality and reliability as well as to enhance provision on several key routes across the city.
The service enhancements form part of the council’s bus service improvement plan (BSIP) for 2024/2025 and are funded by the Department for Transport.
A summary of the changes that will be enacted on Stagecoach routes are as follows:
- Service 1, 2, 3, 10 – will run more frequently in the evenings, with journeys every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, providing more flexibility for people who are socialising or commuting to work during off-peak hours.
- Service 7 – between Hull, Sutton Park and North Point, and Service 8 – between Hull, Holderness Road and North Point – have been enhanced to run up to every 15 minutes, Monday to Friday, every 20 minutes on Saturdays, and every 30 minutes in the evenings and on Sundays. These frequent services will offer greater flexibility for passengers travelling to and from key areas.
- Service 11 – will now extend to Castle Hill Hospital, hourly, and Service 111 will now extend to Beverley, hourly, providing direct access to these key locations and enhancing the overall network coverage.
- Service 12 – between Hull, Noddle Hill and North Point has also been upgraded, with buses running up to every 15 minutes, Monday to Friday, and additional journeys added on Saturdays to accommodate increased passenger demand.
- Service 34 -a new service will serve Stoneferry and Chamberlain Road, connecting these areas directly to Hull Interchange, improving accessibility and offering new travel options for residents.
Additionally, there will be other timing improvements to enhance punctuality on Service 4, Service 5, Service 13, Service 14, Service 15, Service 61, Service 80, Service 81 and Service 255.
A summary of the changes to be enacted on East Yorkshire routes are as follows:
- Service 63 – peak journeys now have increased frequency, up to every 20 minutes, between Hull Interchange and Setting Dyke. Additional vehicles have also been added to improve resilience.
- Service 75/X7 – timetable changes to improve punctuality.
- Service 104 – improved punctuality and reliability, with timetable changes taking into account current traffic conditions around the network.
- Service 105 – improved punctuality and resilience in the timetable with additional vehicles operating.
- Service 154 – improved punctuality and reliability with timetable changes taking into account current traffic conditions around the network.
- Service 55 – slight changes to Sunday timetable.

“Enhancing bus services to make them more punctual, more reliable and more frequent helps make taking the bus a more attractive option for customers, which in turn makes it easier to make more sustainable travel choices.
“The council welcomes these service changes, as they will help deliver on several objectives within our community plan, including safe and inclusive neighbourhoods, a healthier and fairer Hull and by supporting the city’s response to the climate emergency – all of which have been identified as important priorities through listening to feedback from our residents and our communities.”
