Who We Are – Tenant Participation Team

Have you ever wondered who’s behind the scenes helping tenants have their voices heard?  That’s us – the Tenant Participation Team! Our mission is simple: to make sure your views shape and improve the housing services you rely on.

We don’t just work with Council tenants – we’re also here for residents and leaseholders of the city who want to make a difference in their communities. From tackling fly-tipping to improving neighbourhoods, we offer a range of ways to get involved. There’s no time requirement- you can dedicate as much or as little time as you wish. Involvement is set at a level that is comfortable to you.

Local Area Champions keep a check on their streets and communal areas, reporting issues like overgrown shrubbery and fly tipping. Block Champions monitor the cleaning standards within and communal areas surrounding the blocks where they live.  Also, if you’re passionate about keeping your area tidy, our Litter picking scheme is a great way to make a difference.

For those who want a bigger say, we have the Tenants’ Forum – an independent group of volunteers who work with us to shape housing services citywide. Reporting into the Forum are our Focus and Project Groups, each with a specific role:

  • Customer Access Focus Group reviews how well our call centre and community hubs are performing.
  • Publicity Project Group looks at all of the publicity that is produced by the Neighbourhoods and Housing Service, including our Hull Housing News newsletter (this to hyperlink to the HHNs).
  • Repairs and Maintenance Project Group looks at the repairs service provided by the Council and our main contractor- KWL.
  • Multi-Storey Living Project Group tackles issues in high-rise, medium-rise and low-rise blocks, with updates from dedicated experts in High-Rise. Building Safety and Building Cleaning.
  • Neighbourhood Management Project Group focuses on everything from street cleaning to local improvements, receiving regular updates from dedicated colleagues in StreetScene and Waste Management.

We also run mystery shopping exercises, allowing you to give feedback on how well you think a service is performing. We also support the many Tenant and Residents Associations across the city, and we offer digital engagement opportunities through social media and online consultations- making it easier than ever to get involved.

Whether you want to join a group, become a champion, or simply share your views online, there’s a place for you in shaping the future of housing in Hull. Together, we can make our communities stronger, safer, and better for everyone.
