Training Helps Residents Lead More Effective Meetings

Residents recently attended a Chairing Skills and Conduct at Meetings training session organised by the Tenant Participation Team and delivered by Hull CVS.

The session was open to all members of the Tenants’ Forum and Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs).

In total, 20 members attended from across the city, including members of Women’s Voice TARA, who had interpreters present to support communication during the session.

The trainer spoke in detail about how to conduct an effective and efficient meeting, breaking down the process from sticking to the agenda to ensuring discussions remained focused. She also highlighted the importance of the chair being assertive in keeping meetings on track and ensuring they did not overrun or go off topic. Overall, the session was a great success, with attendees finding the training very informative and saying it helped them recognise ways they could run more effective meetings in the future.
