Tenant Thank You Event

Hull Tenants’ Forum recently hosted its annual Thank You Event, celebrating 21 years of dedication and the achievements over the past year with nearly 100 residents in attendance.

One of this year’s key achievements was the creation of the This Is My Home video, which was produced in line with the Stop Social Housing Stigma Campaign. The video was developed in response to concerns about officers occasionally forgetting to display ID badges and wear shoe covers when entering tenants’ homes. This message has since been shared with all Housing Officers at Hull City Council and the main repairs contractors to reinforce respectful and professional practice.

The Chair of the Forum spoke about the events and activities delivered throughout the past year and presented a short video showcasing the highlights. Followed by the Assistant Director Neighbourhoods and Housing, thanking all volunteers for their support and sharing plans for the year ahead.

Attendees also heard updates from the project and focus groups, including the introduction of a new call-back service on the Councils main contact telephone number following successful campaigns from volunteers.

The invaluable work carried out by Block and Neighbourhood Champions was recognised they have inspected 264 blocks of flats, resulting in 559 requests for service and completed 143 estate walks, generating a further 130 requests of service to help keep communities cleaner and safer.

Tenants and Residents Associations shared the successes of their many activities, training sessions, and funding achievements that continue to support their communities.

To celebrate the incredible work of our gardeners, 27 awards were presented to the winners of this year’s Garden Competition, recognising their hard work, creativity, and dedication. The judges were delighted by the amazing communal gardens, eco gardens, containers, and more, showcasing the talent and care of the community. Each winner was proudly presented with an award by the Tpas National Consultancy Manager.

The event ended with a fabulous traditional Chinese dance, beautifully performed by the ladies of the Hon Lok Senior Association.

A huge thank you to everyone who has volunteered this year, whether attending meetings, talking to the Tenant Participation Team in the community, or sharing your views through a questionnaire, your support and views have made a real difference.
