Supporting Community Through “Chat and Choose”

The Chat and Choose scheme at Chiltern Primary School was created with local residents in mind. For nearly two years, the Tenant Participation Team has been visiting regularly, alongside other Council teams and external partners, to connect with the community and offer practical support. Residents attending the sessions can access advice, food supplies and enjoy a free hot drink in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Over the past two years, more than 680 people have attended Chat and Choose sessions. Many have received helpful guidance and answers to everyday questions, including:

  • How to bid for council properties
  • How to report anti-social behaviour
  • How to become a Local Area Champion
  • Who their Housing Officer is
  • How to report repairs to their home
  • What childcare options are available
  • Activities available for children during school holidays
  • How to access local NHS services

The scheme continues to play an important role in bringing services closer to residents, helping people get the information they need and strengthening links within the local community.

The sessions take place every Thursday, 8.30 to 9.30 am at Chiltern Primary School, Chiltern Street, Hull.
