Tell us who are and what you do
I am Amy Shepherd, and I am a training level 3 Business Apprentice within Hull City Council Neighbourhood and Housing Department. One main responsibility is to make sure all incoming paperwork received from our external contractors is accurate and I then upload all paperwork to our department’s archive and our main online information sharing platform which is used throughout the neighbourhood and housing department.
What made you choose an apprenticeship and why was it the right choice for you?
I chose an apprenticeship as I enjoy learning new skills academically and I have never worked in an administrative job role before. It has been the right choice for me, as I have developed my interpersonal skills and have gained confidence when communicating with my colleagues and our external contractors.
Why did you choose Hull City Council?
I chose Hull City Council as I find my job rewarding and I agree with the ethics and beliefs of this organisation.
What do you enjoy the most about the programme?
The thing I enjoy most about my apprenticeship is learning new skills and developing my confidence when building positive rapports with colleagues and external contractors.
What are your hopes following completion of the apprenticeship?
After this, I hope to gain a full-time job role within Hull City Council to provide further administrative support to service users and colleagues.
What would you say to someone who was considering an apprenticeship?
Be open minded and dedicated to the assignments. Be proactive and adaptable.
