Hull City Council Purchase More Houses to Meet Demand

Good quality affordable housing was shown to be a key priority for the residents of Hull in the Community Plan, and Hull’s Housing Strategy has responded to this priority by setting a key aim to “Increase the supply of excellent quality affordable housing”.

To help achieve this aim, Hull City Council has now acquired 4 more social rented homes from Lovell, a partnership housing specialist, at the development known as the Leeway off Salthouse Road, Ings.

This takes the total number of social rented Council Homes on this phase of the development to 17. These are high quality, modern brand-new homes that the Council will own and manage. As of December 2025, Lovell are on site building out the latest phase of housing under the Ings Development Agreement (DA).

In 2026 a new site will commence being built out by Lovell, under the Ings DA for 84 new affordable homes – a mix of affordable rented and shared ownership – being delivered in partnership between the Council, Lovell and Together Housing.

These purchases will provide an opportunity for the Council to provide much needed modern, highquality homes for our tenants, in areas of the city where demand for affordable housing is high.
