Fire doors can save lives

Fire doors are among the most important safety features in a high-rise building.

They are made from materials that can withstand high temperatures, helping to hold back smoke and fire. Here are some tips to make sure your fire door works as it needs to:

  • Never wedge the door open
  • Don’t remove seals or handles
  • Never adjust or remove self-closing devices as they close the doors automatically after use
  • Don’t add anything else to the door, such as a doorbell
  • Keep landings, corridors and fire exits clear

If you notice anything wrong with a fire door, either in your own home or communal areas, report a repair by phone on 01482 300 300 or on the myHousing app.
