Doug Sharp, Head of Street Cleansing and Waste Management at Hull City Council, spoke about the Love Your Neighbourhood initiative at it’s official launch this week:
“This is a new neighbourhood improvement initiative. It’s a £1million investment to the street cleansing and grounds maintenance service.
“So we’ve got 33 staff who we’re using to send in and blitz our neighbourhoods we’re carrying out litter picking and street cleansing, fly tipping removal, litter bin repairs, graffiti removal, ground maintenance tasks, gully emptying a whole raft of stuff.
“But it’s about sending staff in and giving the place a really deep clean that way residents will really see a lift in their neighbourhood.
“And we hope that will sustain the level of environment standards for longer.”
