The Lord Mayor’s Gala, Veteran’s Weekend and Hull Fair have all been cancelled for 2020.
Due to take place in June, July and October, the decision to cancel the events has been taken by the council in order to protect the health of Hull’s residents and in order to follow current Government guidelines on social distancing and the ban on public events.
Councillor Dave Craker, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “It’s incredibly disappointing that we have had to cancel these popular events.
“Months of planning is involved in events of this scale and unfortunately under current Government guidelines we are unable to see a way of holding them safely in their current formats.
“The public health of our residents is paramount and we are now working with the city’s other event providers to ensure we are in a position to make 2021 a year to remember.
“I’d like to thank the event’s participants for their understanding and cooperation at this time.”
