Pearson Park’s National Lottery Heritage Fund restoration project is to restart.
The £3.8million scheme is nearing completion and has seen some of the park’s stunning Victorian features and significant assets brought back to life.
Following Government guidelines for construction sites, contractors are practising safe social distancing. They have reduced the number of staff working on site at any time and are holding daily meetings as well as using additional PPE.
A full-time cleaner has also been employed to ensure all communal areas are cleaned after every use.
Work will include filling potholes around the parks perimeter road, plastering the East Lodge and works to plumbing and electrics at the conservatory.
Councillor John Fareham, chairman of the Pearson Park Trust, said: “It’s great we’ve been able to resume work on this significant project and my appreciation and thanks go to the contractors for making this happen safely.
“The past few weeks have highlighted how incredibly important our parks and green spaces are to us and therefore getting this project finished is key, especially to the residents living close by.”
The project is scheduled to be completed later this summer and it is hoped this will still be met.
