Coronavirus latest: cancellations and closures in Hull and East Riding

Events and venues in Hull and the East Riding are being affected after new information was shared in yesterday’s coronavirus update by the Government. Here are some of the events and venues seeing closures on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wednesday

2.30pm: Hull’s Goodwin Development Trust has cancelled all group sessions and will be supporting people over the telephone. It includes the next Create to Change two-week induction.

12.55pm: The planned opening of a new running track at King George V playing fields on Sunday 22 March at 9am has also been postponed.

12.46pm: Ferens Late, a special programme of events at Ferens Art Gallery, has been postponed, the gallery has announced on Twitter.

12.05pm: All sauna and steam rooms at leisure centres operated by Hull Culture and Leisure will be closed until further notice.

11.37am: The Hull parkrun in East Park has been suspended with immediate effect, alongside those in the East Riding and all parkruns in the UK.

11.07am: The Hull Real Ale and Cider Festival at Hull Minster has now been postponed.

A statement on the festival’s website said: “It is with great sadness that CAMRA and the Hull & East Yorkshire Branch in particular have come to the difficult decision of postponing the 2020 Hull Real Ale & Cider Festival (HRACF) due to be held at Hull Minster in May 2020.”

7.28am: Hull Food Partnership has postponed the 5-VEG Challenge cooking competition at Trinity Market.

Tuesday

4.47pm: The Tour de Yorkshire has been added to the list of events postponed due to coronavirus.

4.31pm: The University of Hull’s Hull Sport Park will close temporarily from 8pm today.

4,22pm: Absolutely Cultured has temporarily closed both the Humber Street Gallery and itsΒ  volunteering programme until Friday 1 May.

4pm: Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott have issued a statement on Twitter saying they will reschedule their forthcoming UK and Ireland tour dates, including a show at Hull’s Bonus Arena.

2.41pm: All activities at the Guildhall’s Room 42 have been cancelled until further notice.


2.38pm: Vue cinema in Princes Quay in Hull has closed until further notice.

2.22pm: Hull City Council and Hull Culture and Leisure have closed Hull City Hall and Hull New Theatre and cancel all performances, with immediate effect, for the next three months. Read the full story here.

12.56pm: Hull theatre company Middle Child has set up a coronavirus fund for Hull artists. Read more here.

12pm: Humber Mouth has postponed events on Saturday 21 March with Nisha Ramayya and Friday 3 April with Deborah Levy.

10.53am: Hull City Council has cancelled the Not Were I Live events due to take place in Hull this week.

10.32am: All Trinity Live events at Trinity Market have been cancelled for the foreseeable future, along with the Vegan Market event due to take place on Friday 27 March.

10.10am: Visit Hull and East Yorkshire has announced on their Twitter page that this year’s REYTA awards will not go ahead.
