A celebration of the Pearson Park’s huge restoration project is being planned for the summer.
The £3.8m project, completed alongside with the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is moving forward at a rapid rate.
It follows the successful reinstallation of the historic entrance gateway to Pearson Park.
Work to restore the park’s bowling pavilion has now concluded, while the new bandstand and the extension of the East Lodge are nearing completion.
Work is ongoing on the Pearson Park bandstand and Victorian conservatory.
The core structure of the bridge over the lake has taken shape and is now awaiting the installation of the bridge’s welded railings.
Work to improve the popular ice cream kiosk is now under way with new French doors and windows installed and a pergola to provide shelter is being built at the front of the existing building.
The stunning replica Victorian conservatory now has a complete frame and the glass panels are now in place.
Work has now started on the inside of the building, preparing for the new colourful planting scheme. Once complete, a weathervane will be added to the roof.

Councillor John Fareham, chairman of the Pearson Park Trust, said: “It’s great to see all the elements of this important project coming together and giving a new lease of life to this park.
“We’re on now with plans to celebrate all the works being finished and hope to see the park packed out with people enjoying this revitalised space later this year”.
