Hull households will this week receive a form asking them to check their household voter registration details.
The Annual Canvass allows Hull City Council to keep its electoral register up-to-date.
Registering correctly allows residents to take part in elections.
Matt Jukes, electoral registration officer, said: “It’s really important that all households respond, whether the information is correct or if it needs updating, so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in the city.
“Over 90 percent of households respond each year, but I’m urging all households to respond through one of the quick and easy methods.”
Residents can reply either online, by text or phone or by completing the form and returning it in the freepost envelope provided along with the form. All of these methods require a two-part security code shown on the canvassing form.
If nothing has changed in the household, residents can:
- Text NOCHANGE followed by the two-part security code to 80212
- Phone 0800 197 9871 and enter the code
- Enter the code online here
If something has changed:
- Fill in the form and post it back using the freepost envelope
- Enter the code online here
If households do not respond, they will receive a visit from a member of council staff to seek the information.
Each household is required by law to make sure the details on the form are correct. Those who don’t could face a fine.
