A magazine featuring interviews, summer highlights and updates on some of the major things happening in Hull is being distributed to every household in the city next week.
Love Hull will also feature an eight-page pull-out guide to what’s going on across the city over the summer.
It will also include essential information so residents can make the most of the council’s support services.
The publication is an important part of Hull City Council’s multi-channel communications plan, ensuring the local authority can communicate with all residents and communities, including those that don’t have access to the internet.
Councillor Stephen Brady, leader of Hull City Council, said: “This magazine is going to every home in the city because we want to make it easier for everyone to find out about all the great things that are happening, which includes lots of free family events and activities.
“People access information in lots of different ways. Not all residents can or want to receive information electronically, so it’s important that the council recognises this and makes sure that we reach every resident.”
Research from the Hull People’s Panel showed 61 per cent of residents prefer to receive information directly from the council and its partners.
Residents also said they particularly want to hear more about events that are taking place in the city.
This year marks the centenary of a landmark law that introduced council housing to the UK and shaped Hull’s housing landscape.
To celebrate this, the magazine takes a special look at the history of council housing and meets residents living in the city’s council estates.
Love Hull also features articles about the exciting Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City bid, to make huge improvements to the city’s maritime heritage offer, plus updates on major projects such as the Castle Street improvement works.
The eight-page pull-out guide to what’s going on over the summer features events across the city’s theatres, free activities in parks and leisure centres and information about some of Hull’s most popular annual events such as Pride in Hull, Humber Street Sesh and the Freedom Festival.
The magazine also includes information and contact details for all of the city’s councillors, to encourage residents to engage with their councillors and the council.
Residents will be invited to give feedback on the magazine. Those that submit feedback will also have the chance to win £100 in shopping vouchers.
Households will start to receive the magazine on Monday 15 July.
