Residents and visitors are encouraged to gather in Queen Victoria Square to welcome home Hull-born Karl Bushby as he completes the final leg of his intrepid 28-year walk around the world.
Karl is expected to arrive into Queen Victoria Square in the city centre around 11am on Monday 2 November.
After crossing the Humber Bridge and making his way east into his home city, upon arrival into Queen Victoria Square, Karl will be welcomed by the Hull Volunteers.
The Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber, Councillor Maria Coward, will welcome Karl briefly onto a stage area at the front of the city hall. A brief private reception in the city hall will follow.
Karl will then recommence the very final leg of his journey northwards to his family home, ending his legendary journey back to Hull.
Cllr Coward, said: “So many people have followed Karl on his epic journey. We have all felt inspired by his spirit, tenacity and dogged determination to carry on in challenges faced by the most fearless of explorers. We all share pride in his incredible achievement.
“We also know what it’s like to come home to Hull, that feeling as your car or train, or feet in Karl’s case, crosses or goes under the Humber Bridge and over the city boundary.
“As the world’s media and documentary crews gather in our city we can show them how proud we are of Karl’s achievement and how proud we are to be from Hull.”
