Hull City Council is pleased to have granted use of the city’s three crowns crest to Hull City AFC.
The armorial bearings are proudly displayed on The Tigers’ third kit, launched today, Monday 7 September.
The club requested special permission from the council’s civic committee for use of the three crowns on their return the Premier League.
Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber, Cllr Maria Coward, said: “The civic committee was pleased to be able to grant permission to Hull City AFC for use of the three crowns crest. They are an iconic symbol of our city and look resplendent on their new kit.”
Cllr Mike Ross, leader of the council, added: “I am delighted that Hull City wanted to use the three crowns on their kit. It is another reminder of the deep connection between the club and the city.
“Hull City’s return to the Premier League helps to put the city into the global spotlight. Use of the three crowns on their third kit can only help amplify this and ensure that more people around the world identify them with Hull, a city already known globally for its rich maritime heritage.
“I am sure that it will encourage visitors to the city to sample the maritime offering and really see for themselves why National Geographic magazine identified it as being one of the top 25 places to visit in the world in 2026.
“This new kit, one that is built on the heritage of the club, nicely sets up the team for an exciting future.”
