Grants to Arts, a funding grant for creative organisations in Hull, has returned with two rounds now available to apply for.

The programme is Hull City Council’s long-standing scheme of small grants for arts projects and is highly valued by local artists and arts organisations.

A recent review of the scheme sought feedback from service users and those interested in the arts. The results mean that a revised scheme is now in place which aims to ensure it continues to be aligned with council strategy, supporting the city’s cultural vision to promote inclusivity, develop community-led approaches and have measurable cultural impact.

In real terms, the changes mean there will now be two rounds of funding per year, with the maximum award being £5,000. Applications can be made online and detailed feedback will be given to unsuccessful applicants.

Cllr Jackie Dad, deputy leader and portfolio holder for culture, said: “The Grants to Arts fund is an invaluable resource for local artists, enabling many to generate income and attract further investment.

“At the council we see its value, with every £1 of grant funding awarded generating £8 of inward investment in the city for artists and the community to enjoy.

“Demand on this fund is extremely high and I look forward to seeing what the grants go towards creating for the people of Hull.”

The deadline for round one applications is 11pm Sunday 12 July. Round two will close 11pm Sunday 29 November.
