Summer fun still going strong

As the summer holidays start to draw to a close, there’s still time to enjoy some of the amazing Healthy Holidays Hull activities on offer. Since schools closed for the break in July, dozens of activities and events have already taken place, from festivals and fun days to sports and drama sessions.

Healthy Holidays Hull has become a school holiday staple, offering an exciting variety of sessions, with nutritious food included. Over the past month thousands of children across Hull have taken part in a huge range of totally free activities, including city centre festival for 11 to 16-year-olds Zebfest, big events in the city’s parks, day trips and excursions, cooking sessions, arts and crafts, football and so much more.

But with almost two weeks of the break remaining, there are still plenty of chances to get involved. All activities are free, open to all school-age children and young people, and most include a nutritious food.

Cllr Linda Tock, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Hull City Council, urged families to make the most of activities on offer for the remainder of the break. She said: “Summer wouldn’t be summer without Healthy Holidays. The scope of activities on offer really is fantastic, I’d urge all parents and young people to have a look at the website and find something that suits them. Some sessions require booking, others you can just turn up to.

“As always, everything is free, almost all sessions include a nutritional food offer, and everyone can participate provided they are school-aged and live in Hull.

“Healthy Holidays is an invaluable programme, which means every family has opportunities to enjoy activities throughout the school holidays, without having to worry about finding the money. Parents also have the assurance that their children and young people are getting nutritious food while they’re there”.

Healthy Holidays runs throughout the rest of the school holidays.
