The Lord Mayor has welcomed an official representative from one of Hull’s twin cities to the Guildhall.
Councillor Mark Collinson hosted David Robinson, who represented the US city of Raleigh.
Although he now lives and works in the state of North Carolina, David was born and raised in Hull.
He said: “It was wonderful to once again visit Hull and meet with the Lord Mayor, Lady Mayoress and other city and educational leaders.
“Our discussions centred around further developing the social, cultural and trade relationships between Hull and Raleigh.
“As we move forward, we look forward to a mutually beneficial working relationship.”
David is Director of the Executive Mansion in Raleigh, the home of North Carolina’s State Governor, Roy Cooper.
His latest visit to his birth city was part of a continued campaign to reinvigorate links with Raleigh, which were established in the 1980s.
The Lord Mayor said: “It has been an honour and great pleasure to meet Mr Robinson, and to welcome him back to his childhood city of Hull, from the Governor’s Mansion in our sister city of Raleigh, North Carolina.
“Raleigh is one of the most progressive and expanding cities in the USA.
“Hopefully, we will be able to develop our relationship even more in the future to the mutual benefit of our citizens.”
The Lord Mayor hosted a working lunch at the Guildhall, which also featured staff from Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and the University of Hull.
Hull enjoys formal twinning arrangements with a number of other cities across the world, most notably Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Freetown in Sierra Leone.
