Hull City Council’s Love Your Neighbourhood project has arrived in the Kingswood area today.
As part of the citywide Love Your Neighbourhood project, several streets within Hull’s Kingswood Ward will undergo a comprehensive tidy-up from today (Monday 8 July) to Friday 19 July, leaving streets transformed and residents with a renewed sense of pride in their community.
Over the two-week period, the team will carry out a range of clear-up tasks, including verge cutting, grounds maintenance, and street cleaning works.
The streets that will be included are Bowmont Way, Blackhall Close, Charnwood Close, and Blackwater Way.
Councillor Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment, said: “We are thrilled to announce that the next phase of the Love Your Neighbourhood project will take place in the Kingswood area.
“The dedicated team are ready to transform this neighbourhood, to make it a clean and welcoming place for residents to live.
“We hope everyone in the area will reap the benefits of this wonderful project.”
The council also wants to encourage residents to get involved with the project by helping with litter picking, and the removal of graffiti.
To help residents get involved, the Love Your Street team can loan: adult and child sized litter pickers; hi-viz vests; graffiti removal kits; litter collection sacks; and gloves.
The team will also dispose of the litter at one of the city’s household waste recycling centres. Waste collected can also be disposed of at home using black, blue, or brown bins.
Cllr Quinn, added: “As well as caring for the environment, this project is about getting residents involved and bringing communities together.
“By getting involved with the tidy-up residents can help make a visible difference, connect with neighbours, and restore pride in the area they live.”
Love Your Neighbourhood is a citywide tidy-up programme designed to tackle small areas one at a time.
The team tidy each area over a two-week period, after which residents should see a noticeable difference in the look and feel of their neighbourhood.
