Hull City Council announce upcoming footpath improvement works

A further six streets in Hull are set to receive essential footpath improvement works this month.

As part of Hull City Council’s continued investment in the city’s footpaths, improvement, and reconstruction work will take place in Amsterdam Road, Pembroke and Downing Grove, Retford Grove, Saltford Avenue, and Romford Grove.

The improvements will involve resurfacing and reconstructing areas of the footpath which have deteriorated. Once finished the newly improved footpaths will provide accessible, safe, and even surfaces for local residents.

Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 24 June and are expected to take approximately 11 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

To reduce the impact on residents, and businesses, the work will be carried out in separate phases on the following dates:

  • Amsterdam Road – Monday 24 June to Friday 5 July
  • Pembroke and Downing Grove – Monday 8 July to Friday 26 July
  • Retford Grove – Monday 29 July to Friday 9 August
  • Saltford Avenue – Monday 12 August to Friday 23 August
  • Romford Grove – Monday 26 August to Friday 6 September

Please note that the above dates are provisional only. Letters will be issued to all residents affected by the works confirming the start dates approximately a week in advance.

To allow these works to be done safely they will be undertaken under footpath closure, with access maintained for residents.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads, and Highways at
Hull City Council said: “These works to resurface roads across the city show the council’s commitment to creating safer and more attractive streets for everyone.

“We know better footpaths are a top priority for residents and recently we’ve seen newly completed footpaths in east Hull, Orchard Park, and Princes Avenue.

“Thank you in advance to residents for your patience and cooperation during these improvements. This wouldn’t be possible without you working alongside us.”

The scheme will be funded by Hull City Council’s Capital Footway Programme and carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the council.
