Hull City Council’s Love Your Neighbourhood project has arrived in the Marfleet area today (Monday 30 September).
As part of the citywide initiative, several streets within Hull’s Marfleet Ward will undergo a comprehensive tidy-up from today until Friday 11 October, leaving streets transformed and residents with a renewed sense of pride in their community.
The streets that will be included are Wingfield Road (1-106), Hornby Grove, Tanfield Grove, Taylor Avenue, Swanfield Road, Grantley Grove, Collin Avenue, and Wakefield Avenue.
Following a detailed patch walk around the area, it was identified that these streets are particularly affected by litter, weeds, and overgrown hedges.
Over the two-week period, the team will address these issues, as well as carrying out general grounds maintenance, and street cleaning works.
It is hoped that these efforts will enhance the look and feel of the neighbourhood.
Councillor Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment, said: “These streets have been highlighted as areas that would benefit from our extra resources, so we are excited to bring the Love Your Neighbourhood project to the Marfleet area.
“Our dedicated team is eager to address these issues and transform this neighbourhood into a cleaner and more welcoming place for residents to live and work.
“We hope everyone in the area will reap the benefits of this wonderful project and feel a renewed sense of pride in their community.”
The council also wants to encourage residents to get involved with the project by helping with litter picking, and the removal of graffiti.
To help residents get involved, the Love Your Street team can loan: adult and child sized litter pickers; hi-viz vests; graffiti removal kits; litter collection sacks; and gloves.
Any waste that cannot go in household bins will be collected by the team.

Cllr Quinn, added: “As well as caring for the environment, this project aims to bring the community together by helping and encouraging residents to get involved too.
“By getting involved with the tidy-up residents can help make a visible difference, connect with neighbours, and make an impactful change in the place they live.”
Love Your Neighbourhood is a citywide tidy-up programme designed to tackle small areas one at a time.
The team tidy each area over a two-week period, after which residents should see a noticeable difference in the look and feel of their neighbourhood.
