Hulls popular Playday Festival returns to Queens Gardens on Wednesday 1 August.
The 15th festival in Hull gets underway from 11am until 3pm and Queens Gardens will become a huge outdoor playground where children, young people and families can have a fun filled day, taking part in the annual celebration of the importance of play.
This years theme is the circus – to mark 250 years since the first circus took place in Britain.
A vast range of fun activities are on offer including tight rope walking, stilt walking, plate spinning, a circus ariel activity and creative play making clown hats, ringmaster top hats and circus themed musical instruments.
Alison Murphy, Children and Family Services Director, said:
National Playday is a fantastic event and all about the importance of play in childrens lives. Play is an essential part of every childs life and for social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.
Playday provides an ideal opportunity for families across the city to come together to play and have fun. It also provides a platform for play advocates to promote the benefits and positive impact that playing has on childrens mental and physical health, well-being and learning.
All activities are free to take part in and there will be endless opportunities to build, make, create, balance, bounce, run, jump and play.
The event is organised and funded by Hull City Council.
Families can turn-up no booking or tickets are required.
