More than 50 electric go-karts whizzed around Hull at the weekend as the city hosted its first electric street race.
The Hull Street Race – organised by Green Port Hull and Greenpower – was designed to encourage young people to consider a career in the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and maths.
Students from across the city built their own vehicles ahead of the event.

“Hull City Council is proud to support the efforts made by both Greenpower Education Trust and Green Port Hull in organising this unique event.”
Teams included Team Dynamite, a group of students from Hull Training and Adult Education, who put their mechanical skills to the test with the Greenpower project.
The University of Hull ran an Inspiration Zone which featured science-based activities in the city centre.
